Decisions, Decisions

To contact:shannonoverman@hotmail.com

It is awfully late but this seems to be the time when I get the most silence. While Lilly is dreaming away and Brian is suffering from a Nyquil induced coma, I'm catching up on myself. Lately I have become more and more dissatisfied with the way I look. After having Lilly I thought the weight would drop off, it didn't. I gained over 80 pounds and the first 60 fell off but now I'm stuck with the "muffin tops," as I like to call them. Its getting to the point that its better for me to wear sweatpants and a girdle to go out of the house. This is sad I know. My husband thinks I look fine and in all honesty its better if he says that. My mom is the one who will actaully be truthful. She had 3 kids, all naturally so she tells me it takes time and boy is she right.
I think what really hit me is last night's episode of Extreme Home Make Over....A cute couple were expecting a baby, her water breaks and he dies hours before his daughter is born. The man did suffer from a heart disease. I cried because I don't want Lilly left without a Mommy. I have Type One diabetes and I need to be the best I can for my daughter and myself.
It seems that I use couponing  as an outlet for not dealing with the real problems. So this is my challenge to myself, save money, save my life! My official weigh in today was 171. I have 21 pounds to lose. On Thursday I'm having a complete lab work to determine all the areas I need to focus on.
This being said I may need to stay away from Rite Aid's HUGE candy sale this week.  Until next time....Shannon

Summer is Over

To contact:shannonoverman@hotmail.com

Well, Summer is finally over and we have so much to be thankful for.  Brian started a great new job this week and he loves it. He has to travel further but its all worth it. We have now gotten back in the habit to packing breakfast and lunch to help control the extra cost of gas.
On Sunday, Lilly will be 5 months old. Its very hard to believe how much she has changed. She has such a big personality for such a small little girl. Needless to say she has found a favorite cashier at our local Walgreen's. She now thinks its funny to kick the coupon book but she will hold on to the coupon envelope for small trips.
Friday was a busy day for with a doctor's appointment and our big grocery trip of the month. We took a detour to drop off our recycling at PepsiCo Dream Machine in front of Rite Aid. Its a great way to help the environment and earn points. To learn more check out www.greenopolis.com. I also thought it would be great to pick up some extra gifts for the care packages for our family. Rite Aid has lunchbox kits and thermos on sale for 50%off. For every 2 that you purchased you received $5 +Up reward. I bought 2 (at2.99) and paid out of pocket $6.38 and received $5+up reward. I got 2 more and used the up reward and paid only tax and received another $5+up reward.
I was thrilled about this and went to leave and an elderly woman fell in front of the store. I try to be prepared in every situation and luckily I had a first aid kit in the car. Lilly and I waited with the woman until the paramedics arrived. I wasn't able to do much but try to bandage her up and put one of Lilly's blankets behind her head. Once helped arrived we left her in the hands of someone that could help her. We both prayed for speedy recovery.

Shopping Trip Alone Today!

After the great coupons today, my DH saw how happy I was and said he would watch our DD while I ran to CVS and Rite Aid. I had some ECB to use and wondered how many I could earn today. After a quick trip a I managed to earn $5 ecb from Proglide razor and turned around and got a pack of Pampers, container of wipes,ad a box of tampons for $.36. This does include tax which was $.36. I did pretty good and the cashier seemed in shock that I got all of that.
Next was Rite Aid. I am new to Rite Aid but I saw their ad and knew that that Herbal Essence was a great deal 2/5 and the B1G1 coupon would be a great match. Once I got to the store found out that I could receive $2 Up reward. I had a few coupons to use so I thought I might try this out. I only spent $2.53 but learned a valuable lesson, carry all your coupons in the car just in case.
Until my next shopping trip....

My first Blog

I have a problem and it is with coupons. At first it was nice to save money but now its as if I'm on a mission to see how much I can get with paying as little out of pocket. In the last month I have developed a Stock Pile of products. I can say that I have enough bar soap to last us for the next few years and Scrubbing Bubbles products too. I'm not sure why I do it, its almost like hunting in a weird way. You search out the est deal, the prey and then the hunt begins. This hunt starts by searching and probable trading coupons just to get what you want. To make the hunt even better you have to make sure the prey, the product is still there. All the while you are playing Huntress of the beauty aisle your lovely 3 month old daughter is napping in the buggy and have a major break down on aisle 7.
